Dr Vincent Smith is the IOP South West Branch Chair and one of the many thousand co-discoverers of the Higgs boson in 2012. Although retired from Bristol University, Dr Smith still holds an Honorary position there, which allows him to continue to participate in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.
