Asteroseismology: A New Keplerian Revolution

Event Type: Lecture/Talk
Speaker: Prof Don Kurtz (UCLan)

In 1926 Sir Arthur Eddington lamented, “What appliance can pierce through the outer layers of a star and test the conditions within?” There is now an answer: asteroseismology. We are in a time of a significant advance in our understanding of stellar astrophysics, seeing stars as never before. This talk introduces the concepts of asteroseismology and shows a selection of exciting observational results from the Kepler and TESS space missions.

The talk starts at 18.30pm, with refeshments available fom 18.00pm.
