*** CANCELLED *** A Day for Everyone Teaching Physics - Newcastle *** CANCELLED ***
This free event is for all teachers of physics, technicians and trainees and is organised by the Institute of Physics’ Stimulating Physics Network and Durham University.
The day is designed to inspire your teaching, upgrade and develop your practical physics skills and present new ideas and suggestions to incorporate into your teaching armoury. We hope it accomplishes this by a mixture of lectures, workshops, masterclasses and the inevitable congenial networking over a nice lunch.

A - Take Charge
Electricity is often a confusing topic for pupils. This workshop will focus on building confidence with the
abstract ideas and practical challenges associated with the topic. We will discuss common
misconceptions and helpful ways of modelling electric current. Ideal for non-specialists and early career teachers, but experienced physicists might pick up a few new ideas too!
B - Get Your Motor Running
This workshop will help you and your students demystify electromagnetism. We will cover: hands-on practicals, learning when and how to include the topic in your teaching sequence, how to prevent RSI when tackling the left hand rule, levitation, and more!
C - Physics Escape Room!
Take part and learn how to run this GCSE required practical escape room, that you can use with your
Year 11 classes as a revision lesson the following week! This method lets you and your students review the key concepts and skills from the core physics practicals, including:an overview of the practicals, key words/definitions, various maths skills and, of course, some hands on practical reminders! Electronic copies of all challenge sheets along with the teacher and technician notes will be provided at the end of the session, ready for your next class!
