CANCELLED:Chasing Neutrinos with the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment:CANCELLED
Dr Kate Shaw (University of Sussex)
One of the greatest puzzles facing physicists is to understand why are we made out of matter and not anti-matter! During the early Universe equal amounts of matter and antimatter should have been created but something must have tipped the balance as today everything we see around us is made almost entirely of matter! Where has all the antimatter gone? Neutrinos, tiny elusive subatomic particles, may be the key to unlocking the answer to this and other fundamental questions, and help us to understand how our universe developed after the Big Bang.
The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), an exciting new experiment which will shoot beams of neutrinos through the Earth all the way from Chicago to South Dakota. With over 1000 scientists from around the world working on this experiment, ground making discoveries may be just around the corner.
