The study of planets beyond our solar system is entering a golden age, with new planets being discovered weekly. With these discoveries has come a greater appreciation of the profound influence stars have on their planets and the factors that determine if life could survive. Simon Joyce will introduce the links between stellar evolution and the impact this has on planets and what this story can tell us about the prospects for life in the galaxy.
