The Commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines.
At this event you will have the opportunity to network with technicians from across physics and engineering but also from outside of the sector. Speakers will talk about their roles and the impact they have within the technician work force. You will also have the opportunity to attend a range of parallel session these include: 'The Importance of Professional Registration for Technicians'; Identifying CPD and How to Reflect Effectively and; The Importance of Networking. Employers will talk about the positive contributions technicians make to their organisations.
In the evening we are hosting a drinks reception where we will officially launch our technician commitment action plan. The action plan is designed to highlight what we will do to support the technician workforce in the world of physics and engineering. The reception will include a presentation from Paul Cook, the IOP’s first Fellow who is a practising technician.
