Return to the Moon
Speaker: Tim Browett, Aberdeen Astronomical Society
The Moon has been a source of wonder and curiosity for as long as humankind has been looking to the sky. In the 1960s the Soviet/American space race led to rapid and significant advances in the understanding of our nearest celestial neighbour. Now, 50 years after the original moon landings, the world is once again experiencing an international merging of scientific, political and commercial interest, building towards a second renaissance of lunar exploration. This talk will explore the potential of the upcoming missions from the American, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and European space agencies, as well as private enterprise and space buzzed billionaires.
