Visit to the Mount Vineyard, Shoreham, Kent
This meeting has been organised by Tony Colclough. A separate version of this information is available LINK HERE.
Image: The Mount Vineyard
Description: We visit the Mount Vineyard in the picturesque village of Shoreham in Kent where we shall meet ca. 13:00 and take lunch in their restaurant. Later we shall enjoy a guided tour of the vineyard and sample five of the English wines grown there and enjoy a platter of cheese and charcuterie. Those arriving early may like to explore the village on foot before the Vineyard opens at 12:00. Dinner might be enjoyed at Ye Olde George pub nearby after the Vineyard closes at 18:00.
Where and when to meet: The Mount Vineyard is at The Mount, Church Street, Shoreham, Kent TN14 7SD where there is parking for cars. We gather in the restaurant from about 13:00 where a table or tables will be reserved for us. The Tour and Tasting starts at 15:00 and the vineyard opens at 12:00.
Getting there: You can travel by car or rail. Either way you might find it useful to come via Shoreham (Kent) Station, Shoreham Road (A225), Shoreham TN14 7RT. Set your Satnav to TN14 7RT for the Station and/or to TN14 7SD for the Vineyard.
By Rail: The Vineyard is an 8-minute walk from Shoreham (Kent) Station which can be reached directly from Sevenoaks, Bromley, City Thameslink or Blackfriars. Alight at the station and take the steps from Platform 1 by the footbridge down on to Station Road. Turn right and walk down the hill into the village where you will find Ye Olde George Inn on your left on a corner. Turn left at the corner and you will be in Church St where you will find the entrance to the Vineyard estate on your right set back between a red-brick bungalow and a big white house. Enter and walk along the driveway to the Vineyard restaurant.
By Car: If coming by car set your Satnav to TN14 7SD and drive down the hill (Station Road) into the village from the direction of the station (see note above if you’d like to locate the Station first). You will come to Ye Olde George Inn on a corner. Turn sharp left at the George and you will be in Church St where you will find the entrance and driveway to the Vineyard estate. Please do note that the Vineyard entrance is located set back on your right between a red-brick bungalow and a large white house. There is a long drive leading up into the estate with a car park and the Vineyard restaurant. If you meet the river then you have gone too far!
