What’s Quantum Technology?
Sir Peter Knight, Imperial College
The UK National Quantum Technology Programme has induced a step change in the UK’s capabilities for pushing forward a new sector in future information technologies. We describe how the programme arose and the activities it supported to deliver these new capabilities, building on a first phase £480M investment cross several agencies. The UK programme now enters its second phase, with further substantial investment making a total of over £1bn. I will describe our plans for ensuring the advanced quantum science and demonstrator platforms in imaging, sensing, communications and computing will drive the formation of the QT sector and embed quantum tech in a broad range of industries.
Lectures held at 7.30pm in the William Penny Theatre, Recreational Society, West Gate, AWE, Aldermaston, Reading, RG7 4PR. The theatre entrance can be found on the A340 Basingstoke to Newbury road, just before the Heath End Roundabout at Tadley. Do not use the main gate entrance; the correct gate is signposted as the West Gate or AWE Staff + Deliveries. E-mail email@example.com for further information.
